Coloring Down the Lines – Shimmer Blocks

Good Morning Everyone!

Well Candice and I will be putting together goodie bags and making some surprises for the ladies coming to the My Creative Escape.  I am so excited about this event.  Our plans are coming to a close and the event next weekend will be so much fun for the attendees.  I will take some pictures to post after the event.

Our Coloring Down the Lines blog hop is today.  Amanda found a great fun color combo for us this week.

Aren’t these colors fun?  They just scream party.  I am a member of a demo group and this week they had 2 fun challenges.  One of the challenges is called Shimmer Blocks.  The description sounded like so much fun that I had to give it a try.  You take your marker and ink up your acrylic block.  In my case I used Crushed Curry, Melon Mambo, and Tangelo Twist.  I colored my block using my markers in a block pattern.  After I had my block colored I spritzed it with Shimmer Spray.  You then lay your card stock on top and run your fingers over it to press it onto the block.  Then lift your paper off and set it aside to dry.  Since the Shimmer Spray has alcohol in it, it dries fairly quickly.  Once it is dry you can then stamp on it and make your card.  I did learn a few things along the way.  When you are spraying your block you want to make sure you have enough Shimmer Spray so that your colors are smooth and not splotching.  This helps the colors to blend better.  Here is my creation using the colors for this week’s hop and the technique.
