Beautiful Day Colored Rose

Hello Everyone ~ I used my markers for a Beautiful Day Colored Rose creation today.

Yesterday was a day of calls and appointments.  I did not get into my studio.  That means I will have to spend some time in my studio today working on cards for later this month.  I have a couple of errands to run this morning and I need to get my last shot I need before I go out to see Jake.  This is the DPT shot and I heard you get a really sore arm.  Not looking forward to that one.  Hopefully it won’t be too sore for me to play with paper and ink.  Josh and Michaela brought the baby home today.  I know they are glad to be in their own house.  Here is the latest photo of momma and baby.

I am so looking forward to snuggling with this one!  The last snuggler was Remi and she will be 5 in two months.  A couple of things I just noticed in this photo ~ Jake has a smile on his face and he is using one of the blankets I made him.   Amazing the things you notice when you really look at the photo.

I made a list of all the stamp sets I have since I have a lot of cards to make for when I am away.  My goal was to make sure I did not use the same sets over and over.  As I use a stamp set I cross it off the list.  Today I chose to use the Beautiful Day stamp set.  I thought I would do some coloring using markers.  Coloring with markers can be a challenge as you end up with lines.  I tried an idea to see if I could minimize the lines.  I stamped the rose using Memento Tuxedo Black ink.  The So Saffron marker was used to color the center of the flower.  Then using the Blushing Bride marker I colored the petals by starting on the inside and flicking the color out.  Once I had all the petals colored I pulled out my aqua painter and some water and used them to bleed the color together and eliminate the lines.  It did not do too bad but you have to be careful that you don’t put too much water on the card stock as it will cause the card stock to pill.  I used the same procedure to do the leaf.  I set the flower aside to dry.  Using a piece of Crumb Cake and the Crackle background stamp I added some stamping on the left side of the panel using Crumb Cake ink.  What I did was ink up the side of the stamp and then flipped it over onto the card stock and held the right hand side of the stamp off the paper and pressed the side of the stamp on the paper down to transfer the ink.  This gives you a lighter impression than if you stamp it onto the paper.  I used some retired Blushing Bride cotton ribbon to add a bow at the top.  This panel was then added to a Blushing Bride card base.  I used my snips to cut out the dry rose and added it to the card front using dimensionals.  Here is the completed Beautiful Day Colored Rose creation.

This simple rose is a great way to practice coloring with markers. After the flower was colored an Aqua painter was used to bleed the ink. Check out this Beautiful Day Colored Rose.

This stamp set has some great images.  This one uses the same rose and ink in the lid to color it.  Here is a card that uses the butterfly in that set and a blender pen to color it.  The last card uses the butterfly also and just the markers to create a stained glass look.

Beauty Abounds in Lovely Lipstick

Hello Everyone ~ today I am sharing my One Color Wonder idea which is the Beauty Abounds in Lovely Lipstick.

I don’t know where yesterday went?  I ran some errands then came home and worked on a tutorial I needed.  Then I did a few things around the house and before I knew it it was 5:oo.  I did get my tutorial completed which takes several hours so I guess that is why I don’t know where my day went.  Today I am taking my neighbors to the airport very early then I have a conference call at 11 and an appointment at 1.  I will have some time in between each thing so I might be able to get into my studio and do some creating.  I am working on some panels I can take with me and then put the card together at Jess’ and do my post there.  I have a busy few weeks then I get back after Christmas for a few days then I am off to Michaela’s to snuggle with my new grandson!

I have a One Color Wonder idea for you today.  This one was interesting to work on and not sure what I think of it.  You will have to let me know what you think.  Here is the video for my Beauty Abounds in Lovely Lipstick creation.

Just Breathe Floral Essence

Hello Everyone ~ I am sharing a Just Breathe Floral Essence creation with you today.

Well Jacob Andrew Guesman made his appearance at 7:28 AM Pacific Time.  Here is his photo.

He had a good healthy weight as you can see from the photo below despite being 2 1/2 weeks early.

Momma and baby are doing just fine!  I can’t wait to spend some time with him in January.  I have gotten a couple of other pictures and in each picture he is alert and his eyes are open.  He does not look like a newborn.  I haven’t seen him up close but he looks like he has Michaela’s nose.  I am sure I will get lots of photos over the next few days.

We have our last challenge of the year at Hand Stamped Sentiments Paper Crafting Challenges today.  We have a sketch challenge this time and I had fun playing with it.

I wanted to play with some designer series paper but did not want to do a full panel on the background.  I decided to use a strip across the card for the small horizontal strip on the sketch.  I wanted something neutral so I sent looking and found the perfect pattern in Perennial Essence designer series paper.  I thought the dark watercolor pattern was perfect and did not add too much pattern.  I cut a 1″ x 5 1/2″ and mounted it onto a piece of Silver foil paper.  Scrap paper was used to stamp the flower from Floral Essence in Blackberry Bliss twice and the coordinating punch was used to punch them out.  They were layered using glue dots.  The leaves from the set were stamped with Mossy Meadow and punched out with the Leaf punch.  The petals were curled using my pokey tool and then they were attached to the back of the flower using glue dots.  My card base was Whisper White and I used the sprocket image from Colorful Seasons and Smoky Slate to do some generation stamping across the card front on a diagonal.  To address the sentiment element in the sketch I used the one in Colorful Seasons and stamped it in Blackberry Bliss.  The layered patterned paper was added across the card front just below center.  The flower element was attached using glue dots.  To finish the card I added a clear Faceted gem to the center of the flower.  Here is the completed Just Breath Floral Essence creation.

Simple cards can have a wow factor. Look at this Just Breathe Floral Essence idea that when you look at it you say "Wow!"

I love this flower from the Floral Essence stamp set. Paired with the Perennial Essence dsp they make a beautiful Just Breathe Floral Essence creation.

These ideas also use the Floral Essence and Perennial Essence designer series paper.  This idea uses the stamp set with some of the See a Silhouette dsp.  For this card I used one of the other images in the stamp set and colored using 2 different colors.  Watercolored card stock was used to make the flowers for this card and then paired with the Delicate Lace edgelit dies.

Leave a Little Sparkle

Hello Everyone ~ I played with a new stamp set for my Leave a Little Sparkle creation today.

Well I was hoping to have some baby news for you when I wrote this last night.  Michaela went into the hospital late Saturday night and they started inducing her for medical reasons.  Both she and the baby are fine and she is only 2 1/2 Weeks earlier than her due date so things are ok.  As of last night when I wrote this she still had not had the baby.  I am hoping that I have news to share with you tomorrow.  Hopefully everything goes well so I can keep my plan to go out in January.  Will let you know when I have any news.  Since I am headed out of town next week for a few weeks I am busy working on ideas for the blog.  I am hoping to have lots of things to take with me so that all I have to do is take the photo and write the post.

Today’s card uses a set I bought during the sale a few weeks ago.  It has been on my wish list as it is something I can use for the girls.  Both girls are into unicorns so this was the perfect set for them.  I stamped the unicorn using Memento Tuxedo Black ink.  To color it in, I pulled out several markers.  I colored the horn using the Crushed Curry .  The flowers were colored with Blushing Bride and Bermuda Bay.  To color the mane, I used Balmy Blue, Highland Heather, So Saffron, and Soft Sea Foam markers.  After the mane was colored I used the Wink of Stella to add sparkle to the mane and the horn.  The image was then mounted onto a piece of Balmy Blue card stock.  A strip of Balmy Blue 6″ x 6″ designer series paper was cut and also mounted on to a piece of Balmy Blue card stock.  The designer series paper strip was added to a Whisper White card base on the left hand side of the front.  The image panel was attached to the card front using dimensionals.  Here is the completed Leave a Little Sparkle creation.

Check out this pretty unicorn. This Leave a Little Sparkle creation is fun to color and what child wouldn't love to receive this.

Masculine Seaside Seahorse

Hello Stampers ~ if you need a guy card check out this Masculine Seaside Seahorse creation.

Well I had my trees out front all set up and the lights strung on them.  When I plugged them in the lights did not come one.  I spent some time checking out the timer, changing the extension cord, and checking out the power strip.  Then I tested the lights and they did not work.  That meant I had to unwrap all the lights and test each strand.  When I tested each strand of lights they did not work.  I immediately threw them in the trash and went looking at my other lights I had.  This time I tested the strand before I wrapped it around the tree.  I even plugged the strand in while I was wrapping it.  I got them rewrapped but one of my trees may be a little bare.  I will know tonight when the lights come on.  If it is I will have to get more lights and add more to it.  I also played in my studio and made 2 cards for this week.  Today I have a Holiday Open House to go to but I am hoping to work in my studio some more.  I also want to do some more decorating as I am almost finished.  It will be interesting to see how much I get done.

Today I have another 10 Minute Creation idea for you.  This one uses a set I recently got when they had the sale.  I felt it would be a good one to pair with my Sailing Home suite.  Here is the video showing how I created my Masculine Seaside Seahorse card.
