Check out my cool watercolor background card

Good Morning Ladies ~ For my Global Stamper project for our vacation theme I have a Cool Watercolor Background!

Well we had some issues with the transfers but my guy worked very hard and figured it out.  I do need to see about the images for past posts as they are not there.  I may need to add them to my library in order for them to show up.  That will take a while.

Today is our Global Stampers shares.  This month our challenge was vacation.  Since the girls are headed to the beach this week I thought it would be a good one to do since most of our vacations are beach related.  I was playing with my pads and watercolor paper.  I took my Wild Wasabi, Marina Mist, and Dapper Denim pad and stamped it onto my craft mat.  I then sprayed it with water and set my watercolor paper into the color.  I picked it up and set it aside to dry.  When it was dry I added just some Marina Mist and repeated the procedure adding some blue where I felt it needed it.  This was again set aside to dry.  Some hints I have found in playing with this technique is if let it air dry versus using a heat tool to dry your ink will not be moved around.  I usually like the look and don’t want the ink moved around.  Also if you let your first application totally dry, when you add more ink you can do it strategically and keep the lighter color.  Here is the Cool Watercolor Background I came up with.

Now that I have my background it is time to create my card.  I wanted to show the waves with the white foam so I went looking at my stamps to see what I could find.  There was curl in the Paisley and Posies stamp set that I thought I could use.  I stamped it using Whte Craft ink and then embossed it with White embossing powder.  I did this in several spots as waves usually have a rolling motion toward the shore.  I mounted my completed background onto a Whisper White card base.  I wanted a sentiment that reflected a beach feeling, so I pulled out the Eastern Beauty stamp set and used one of my favorite from the set.  I stamped the dots with Daffodil Delight and then added my sentiment inside.  I punched the sentiment using the 1 1/4″ circle punch.  A Dapper Denim circle was punched using the 1 3/8″ circle punch.  The circles were layered and then added to the card front using dimensionals.  Here is my completed creation.

Thanks for visiting me today and I hope I inspired you.  I am still in the learning curve for posting on this new platform so I hope I did not forget anything.  Have a Sensational Sunday and did you enjoy my Cool Watercolor Background?

This is a “cool” abstract ocean scene. Very creative use of the Paisley stamp set/

  2. Love the idea of using the curls from the Paisley & Petals stamp set for the waves. Fiona x
