Golden Swirls

It’s Fridayyyyyyyy!!!!!!!!!!!

Well my first session of the Christmas Stamp-a-stack is tonight. I am almost ready. I have to cut the ribbon for one more card and then all the supplies are ready. I will spend the rest of the time setting up.
I took a little time yesterday to make a card for you today. I found a great sketch at the Stamping411 blog. It had some combining of squares oriented in different directions that I thought would be fun to use. I did change the sketch and added a bow at the bottom rather than a sentiment. I like to put my sentiments inside so I can use the card for any occasion (force of habit since this one is a Christmas card and will be used for that).
I combined the sketch with the color challenge at the Diva Coffee Break/ blog. You were to use Bordering Blue, Night of Navy, Real Red, and Sage Shadow. It was an interesting color combination and I wasn’t sure how I was going to do it, but I went looking for a Christmas set I could use. I realized I had not used my Fun & Fast notes in a while and thought I could use the Sage Shadow for the tree. I didn’t want my tree to be too dark, so I pulled out my Aqua Painter and watercolored it. After I had my tree layers put together I decided to mount the tree image on a Bordering Blue card. When I put the squares on top, the card needed something so I pulled out my Baroque Motifs and added a swirl. I stamped the top half of the swirl at the top of the card first then cleaned the stamp and stamped the bottom swirls. I embossed each swirl with gold embossing powder. Added some hole punches in the top corner and I was done. Here is the sketch and my creation.
