Polka Dot Poppies

Hello Everyone!

I had a great weekend at the knitting retreat.  We had a leisurely drive on Friday and when we got there we went for a walk and found a nice french bakery/cafe for lunch.  We kept it light as we were going to have dinner in a few hours.  After that we went back to the hotel and checked in.  We had a great dinner with the group that evening then we all did a little knitting.  On Saturday we got up and had breakfast.  Then we went for another walk and checked out quite a few of the shops.  We went back in time for lunch with the group.  We then did a little more knitting and then we went for another walk and checked out a few more stores including a knitting store where I bought a ball of yarn.  We then went back and went to the room where we did some more knitting.  We went down to the hotel restaurant and had dinner.  Mary and I were both tired so we went to bed early.  On Sunday morning we had a breakfast and a show and tell.  It was fun to see some of the items the ladies had made.  After that we headed home.

When I got home I watched the Nascar race and then headed to my craft room to make my card for today as well as one for tomorrow.  I wanted to used the sketch at Freshly Made Sketches as I like playing along with them.

When I saw the sketch I knew I wanted to use my Pleasant Poppies stamp.  This set will retire in June and my massage therapist loves poppies so I decided to make a card for her since I will see her later this week.  I used a portion of the stamp to make the panel.  Since the sketch had 2 strips along the bottom I wanted to use some of the Neutrals collection paper stack.  These stacks will retire also.  I will miss them as I love the dots and chevrons.  It will be interesting to see what patterns they use next.  Since my card was fairly simple I decided to add some embossing to the card front.  Here is what my creation looks like using this sketch.

I used some ideas from Connie Smith’s 2 minute Tuesday Tip video for photographing my card.  What do you think of the new set up?

Thanks for visiting me today.  I will be working on some projects for the next Stamp Academy session.  I hope to get one finished and the tutorial written as well as start on the next one.  Have a Marvelous Monday!
