Across the Waves – thumping with an ink cube
Hello everyone – I have a twist on an old technique with today’s Across the Waves – thumping with an ink cube card.
Each month Vicky and I choose 1 idea, product, etc. to focus our card making on. This month we have chosen to use the thumping technique. You can see Vicky’s project here.
This technique is fun and best completed if you use a solid stamp. I don’t have many in my stash so when I ran across this one I decided to give it a try.
Today’s Project
To do the technique, you ink up your image with a color. Then taking another color, you thump on the ink. The key is to do it randomly. I used a light blue and then came in and thumped it with a medium blue. This gives the image some interest and depth.
To make sure the attention is on the thumping technique, use a simple layout. Adding an element behind the image panel and a strip of pattern paper down the side draws the eyes to the image so they notice the 2 colors used.

Here is a card that uses the thumping technique using a marker. This card uses the technique to create a great flower head with random color.
