Be Gentle

Good Morning Ladies!

Well I did something I have never tried before on my card.  Our challenge this week at Late Night Stampers is to create a project that depicts where you are from.  Maryland is known for their blue crabs so on Monday I created a water scene with a blue crab.  While I was creating this card my brain was churning trying to think of something else I could use for my post today.  All I could think of was Amish and corn.  Well I did not have any stamps that were buggies or ones that would be corn so I thought I would play around and see what I could come up with.

The buggy was pretty easy.  It is just a rectangle with a rectangle cut out for the door.  Then I needed to do the wheels.  I had no idea how I was going to do the spokes so I pulled out my catalog to see if there was a stamp set I could use.  I saw a flower in the Simply Said set that reminded me of spokes.  I stamped it in black and then used 2 circles to create a ring which I attached to the flower to create a wheel.  So now I have my buggy.

Now for the corn.  I started with a skinny strip of green and then cut a really thin strip of a lighter green and wrapped it around the darker green.  That gave me my corn stalk.  Now I needed leaves.  I used a punch and punched out several leaves in 2 shades of green.  I folded them down the middle and sponged on green ink.  I then folded the leaf on a diagonal and I had my leaves.  I added some embroidery floss at the top to be the silk and sponged the end with chocolate chip.  Now I have my corn.

So do you want to see my final creation.  I have to admit it was definitely a challenge.  Let me know what you think.  Oops, just realized I put my buggy on wrong.  I will have to see if I can detach it and fix it.

So what do you think, other than the body being on wrong that is?  Hope you liked my last project for our challenge this week.  Thanks for looking and have a Sensational Sunday!

Robbie

  2. Great idea with the Amish buggy and corn. Creative and clever use of paper and stamps. It certainly does display our area. Loved the little hairs on the corn. Sandy
