Hello Stampers ~ the Beautiful Day Butterfly from Stampin’ Up is a great bold image!
I hope all my friends in the Northeast are surviving another round of a huge snowstorm. They have so much snow and now they are getting more. I hope they are doing okay and do not loose electricity for too long again. Our forecast changed every hour from all rain to up to 8 inches. I don’t think they knew what the storm was going to do. It is always fun this time of year as the weatherman never know what it is going to do.
I was watching some you tube videos and saw an idea I wanted to give it a try. You create a focal image and then use smaller background stamps in very light colors to fill in the background. I found a cluster of dots in the Birthday Blooms which I used with Soft Sky and then the sprig from Blooms and Wishes which I used with Pear Pizzazz. The butterfly was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I then used alcohol markers to color the butterfly. Once I had my butterfly colored in I did some second and third generation stamping of the dots and sprigs around the background. While this was the basic technique, I am thinking it is too flat. I think I will try adding some Wink of Stella to key background images and see if it helps. Here is the completed Beautiful Day Butterfly from Stmapin’ Up without the Wink of Stella.
Here is the same card with some Wink of Stella on key background stamps. Which do you think looks better?

Since I really like the Butterfly stamp I am going to give this a whirl for sure. Really like the sparkly card – of course!
Have fun with it! There are so many ways you can do it.
