Celebration Time

Wow, Christmas is 2 weeks away!  I hope you have all your shopping done as the stores are crazy right now.

My card today is for our Celebration Challenge at Late Night Stampers.  We are celebrating 100 challenges so our challenge was to make a card celebrating challenges.  I had borrowed the Sizzlet set Big Bold Cupcake from a friend – I was considering it for my All Occasion stamp-a-stack but decided against it as it was too many pieces – and decided to play with it.

I had not played with my dear friend Carole’Anne’s challenges in a while so I checked out The Stamp-A-Holics blog and found this color challenge.

We have 15 minutes to create our card so I set the timer.  I began by cutting out all my pieces.  After I had my pieces I laid by cupcake bottom on my work surface and added the top.  It was too plain so I decided to sponge the edges.  It still needed something to I decided to add the circle element so I went back to Mr. Big Shot and cut them out.  That was better so now I needed to add my candles.  Once I had the image complete it was too plain so I sponged the edges.  That was better but still not quite there.  I decided to add some layers so I pulled my cardstock and determined my layering.  Next I stamped and punched my sentiment.  Now what color card base do I want?  I tried several colors and the Daffodil was the best.  When I set my elements on the card base it was still too plain so I decided to add a subtle background.

Uh-oh, the time is up!  Oh well let’s see how much longer it takes.  I
decided to use the circles from Apple Blossoms.  Now I knew I needed to
use a stamp positioner so I pulled out the one I had (not SU as I got it
back when I first started stamping).  Well needless to say it took me
several tries – could not get it right so I think I may need to order
SU’s poistioner and give it a try – but I finally got the background
done.  I gave up on the positioner and just eyeballed it.  Now my time
was up to 30 minutes.  I mounted the layers with dimensionals and I was
done.  So instead of 15 minutes, it took me 30.  Here is my creation.

So why don’t you join me this week and create a celebration card.  I would love to see what you create.  Thanks for looking and have a Marvelous Monday!
