I bet you are wondering what I have been up to since I haven’t posted anything since Monday. I spent yesterday running errands and today I have been in my stamp room working on a Christmas present.
Several months ago I ordered a stamp set from Papertrey Ink with the intentions of making this Christmas gift. Being the procrastinator that I am, I put it off and promptly forgot about it until this week. That meant that I had to finish it today so that I could go to Michael’s tomorrow and see if I can get it framed by Christmas.
I began by stamping the house on my good paper and again on another piece of paper. I used a picture I had taken of the house to watercolor the house like his. See the cute shutters. Well the house stamp does not have shutters on it so I had to hand draw them in. Not bad if I say so myself. After coloring the top image I colored the one on the good paper (when you layer if you color the image underneath, if you don’t line the 2 images up exactly your eye won’t notice it as the coloring is the same.
I then needed something else as the house image and the name would look a little silly. I used the tree from Loads of Love to create a row of pine trees extending from the house across the page. I colored the stamp with markers to get the brown truck. I basically off stamped the image once and did some second and third generation stamping. After stamping I laid out the letters and the tree trunks looked a little funny so I sponged on Creamy Caramel and Close to Cocoa to make a ground. I then used 2 blues and an Inkssentials Ink Blending Tool to create the sky.
So are you wondering what this gorgeous creation looks like. Now keep in mind I have not cut it down as I wanted to make sure I allowed for some space to fit in the frame. Okay, okay I know you are anxious to see it. Here it is!

Stamps: Loads of Love, Boards and Beams (Papertrey Ink) Paper: Whisper White, black Ink: Ballet Blue, Bashful Blue, Basic Gray, Close to Cocoa, Creamy Caramel, Going Gray, Ruby Red, Palette Noir Black Accessories: Always Artichoke – Close to Cocoa – Going Gray – Night of Navy markers, Olivia Cuttlebug Alphabet Set, Cuttlebug, aqua painter, dimensionals
So, what do you think? I am headed to Michael’s tomorrow to see about getting if framed. Wish me luck! When I get it framed I will post a picture so you can see how it looks. I will try to post something for you to look at tomorrow. Thanks for looking and have a great evening!
