My friend Candice has decided to start her own blog. We use to do this one together but life got hectic for her so she gave it to me. Things have settled down for her and she has decided she would like to post her cards again. We had several long conversations about posting and ideas. I mentioned how I do some of the challenges to stretch my skills and we went to Splitcoast Stampers and checked out the challenges. We looked at the Try A New Technique which is posted each Monday. The challenge was to create a Flower Pot Pocket Card. We looked at the directions a few samples and it was just too cute. We challenged each other to create one to post on our blogs.
A Cute Fun Technique
I had just gotten several of the Stampin’ Up Sizzlets and Embosslits and hadn’t used them so I decided to use them on my card. I wanted to use some spring colors so I thought Barely Banana and Pretty in Pink would be good. I needed another color so I checked my color coach and saw Perfect Plum was a suggestion and when I put it with the other two I liked the look. I cut my flowers (I used a Pretty in Pink marker to outline the pink flower so it would show up better) and leaves using my Cuttlebug and applied to my pocket. I then had to make my pot.
After I made my pot I was trying to decide how to decorate it. I ran across a curvy strip that I had in my scrap pile and thought it would be cute to decorate my pot that way. I cut my decorative edge and my wavy strips. Before I put my pot together I sponged the edges with Close to Cocoa for some depth. I applied my wavy strips and was done.
Here is the link for the directions for the pot – Stephanie. One suggestion I would make is to make your pot first then cut your pocket to fit. I did not and had to pull off my flowers and recut my pocket. Here is my creation.
