Hi Ladies! Quick post as they put my sister back in the hospital last night and I got home very late.
My card today uses the shaving cream background technique. I thought it would be fun to use this technique to create a background for some fall leaves. I received a swap card at convention from Virginia Killmore and I loved how she did her leaves. I decided to use the same procedure to make the leaves for my card.
Hand Stamped Sentiments has an inspiration challenge this week and I love the quilt hanging on the wall.
The colors reminded me of fall and I knew this set would be perfect for the card.
I started by using a sponge dauber to put 4 different colors down all over a piece of paper. Then you ink your stamp with Versamark and emboss it with gold embossing powder. The only thing left to do is to cut out your leaves. Then using the shaving cream background technique you create your background. Then you just need to make your card.
I used an Early Espresso card base. The next layer was Cherry Cobbler that I stamped with the Weathered Background inked in Soft Suede. I took a rectangle of More Mustard and tore the edges. I used my sponge dauber to ink the edges with Early Espresso. I then repeated the previous procedure with my shaving cream background rectangle. It was just a matter of layering to card.
We will be making this card on Thursday at our technique class. Bet you wish you could join us. This background technique is perfect for a fall card. Here is my creation.
