Handmade Snowflake Card

Handmade Snowflake Card

Hello Everyone – wait until you see my handmade snowflake card I am sharing today!

I am a lover of snowflakes. I love making snowflake cards as they remind me of standing outside in a snow storm and watching them fall. Now that I am older I still like to watch them fall but now I do it from the inside of the house. When I saw the snowflake pattern paper in the free Penguin Playmates collection I knew I had to pair it with Snowflake Wishes to make this clean and simple card.

Don't you love this pattern paper? It is so pretty that it can be the main focus of the card. The black & white gingham ribbon and the die cut snowflake is the perfect accent for the Handmade Snowflake Card.

The simple snowflakes on this paper were perfect to add the iridescent snowflakes in the July – December catalog. All I had to do then was to put the layers together to make the card. I chose to use black as a highlight color so that it makes the other color pop. In keeping with the black and white I used the Black & White gingham ribbon. This ribbon is one of my all time favorite and it is so cute on this card.

In keeping with the focus on the snowflake paper, I used a simple sentiment and fussy cut around it. To help you in creating your version of the handmade snowflake card, here are the measurements from my card.

Measurements

Card Base:  Basic White 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ scored at 4 1/4″
Layer 1:  Basic Black 4″ x 5 1/4″
Strip for ribbon: Basic Black 1/2″ x 5 1/4″
Pattern Paper Layer: Penguin Playmates (retired) 3 7/8″ x 5 1/8″
Sentiment Layer:  Basic White scrap

These snowflakes give a hint about the card front. I used the black & white gingham ribbon and a die cut snowflake for the front of my Handmade Snowflake Card.

If you love snowflakes then you have got to have the Snowflake Wishes stamp set. Here are the supplies I used for today’s card. Click on the image to add it to your cart. Remember to use the October host code – ZNNMQJBX – if your order is under $150.
