Well I have made 5 brayer cards this week – one each day. I have had fun playing with the brayer and learned some new techniques.
For today’s card I decided to try to do a Zindorf case. Michelle does a beautiful job with the brayer. If you haven’t visited her blog make sure you do.
I needed to decide on my colors so I went looking for a color challenge. I found one that just reminded me of a sunrise. At Pals Paper Arts I found a challenge I could use.
So now I was ready to begin. I took pictures as I went along so you could see my progress.
I began by brayering Bermuda Bay at the top to be the sky. When I was finished it almost looked like it was raining.
Next I brayered Crushed Curry at the bottom (I forgot to take a picture of this one). I wanted to add some ground so first I tried sponging on Soft Suede.
I wasn’t getting the effect I was looking for and then it hit me – Duh it’s a brayer challenge. So I inked up the brayer with Soft Suede and did the bottom.
Now I forgot to take pictures of the next steps but I will tell you what I did. First I stamped my image on the left side. The picture looked lopsided so I stamped part of the image on the right side. It still seemed harsh so I sponged black around all the edges. I then added some Signo white pen in various places on the stamped image.
Now it was time to determine how to put my card together. It needed some kind of element so I pulled out my photo corner punch and added some gold brads and put it in the upper left corner.
Now I needed to determine my layers and card base. I tried the panel with all 3 colors but the Bermuda Bay really made the picture pop so my decision was made. I then needed to get my card base and again Soft Suede looked the best. As I had it sitting there my ground needed something so I pulled out my post-it note mask and added some black using a sponge at the edge of the post-it notes. It was still missing something and I decided to try a sentiment. I found the perfect one in A Beautiful Thing so I stamped it in Bermuda Bay with a layer of Soft Suede. To add some interest I used the ticket corner punch on the corners and sponged the edges with Soft Suede. Here is my final creation and I think it turned out pretty good.
