Ink Spray & Smash Technique

When I read Faith’s blog, she often uses a technique that create some absolutely beautiful backgrounds. The technique is called Ink Spray & Smash. I have wanted to try this technique for quite some time and Candice and I got a chance to give it a try last week.

There is a great tutorial on Splitcoast. You basically use glossy cardstock and drop several drops of a reinker on the sheet. Then drop fewer drops of a darker color. Next you spray your cardstock with water and take another sheet of glossy cardstock and lay it on top of your inked on and smash the 2 together. Slowly pull the 2 sheets apart and set aside to dry.

Candice and I used Barely Banana and Tempting Turquoise and the result was really cool. We then used the 2 sheets to make a card. Today’s card is a result of our attempt. I am thinking of doing this one in my workshop in March. Let me know what you think.

inside of the card

Stamps: Embrace Life, Flight of the Butterfly, Simply Said Paper: Glossy white, So Saffron, Flowers for You DS (retired) Ink: So Saffron, Staz-0n Black, Tempting Turquoise Accessories: lattice border punch & inside butterfly punch (Martha Stewart), metallic paint chip (Lowe’s), ribbbon (Pink Hedgehog), sponge dauber, dimensionals

Let me know what you think. If you get time make sure you try this technique as it was a lot of fun! Thanks for looking and have a great Monday!

  1. Okay Rob, I am making my comment. Love everything but the brown. I would have liked a pretty spring background color to give it a little more prettiness. But that’s me. Sandy

  2. Hi Robbie, lovely card – the colours are so stunning together and it’s very pretty. Love all the previous ones too – just had a quick look tonight but will go back and have a better look tomorrow.

Thanks for you comment on my blog – I have been busy with work recently and went away this past weekend.
I am also now worrying about my family as a few of them had to evacuate their homes yesterday as new bushfires were threatening the areas close to their homes.
They are all safe at the moment with various friends closer to our capital city Melbourne but we are waiting to see what will happen as an extremely hot day is forecast for this Friday and may cause havoc with the current fires which are still burning.

    Hopefully, all will be well.
