It’s Kids Week at Late Night Stampers

Another Monday morning!  Did you have a good weekend?  I was lazy and did nothing.  I haven’t done that in a while but it felt so good.

We have a great challenge at Late Night Stampers this week.  You are to create a project for a child.  I wasn’t sure what I was going to do but then I remembered I wanted to make some wall art for my soon to be here granddaughter.  So with that in mind I knew I would be making some pictures for my daughter to decorate her room.

I ran across an awesome wall collage by Debbie Martin at Clever and Cute.  I decided to use her collage and create some pictures for my daughter.  She is decorating with butterflies so this was my theme for her pictures.  Realize that my pictures do not have any mats around them.  I may mat a few of them.  All the butterflies have some kind of swirl stamped on them to add some interest.  I also used rhinestones and pearls to decorate them.  They are not attached yet as I want to decide if I will mat them or not.  When I do attach them I will bend the wings up.  Here are my creations.

My first picture uses a background technique that is a Technique Junkie tutorial called Cottoned Color.  I had fun doing it but if you look in the upper left hand corner you can see I messed that corner up.  This is one that I am thinking I may need to mat.  What do you think?

My second picture uses a background technique that I read about on a technique junkie’s blog.  When I did it the way it was described my yellow and pink mixed and turned orange.  I did not want to use that since that is not her colors.  I will use that background paper later this week for a card so look for it.  With that I took the 2 colors and blended them onto the glossy paper.  I liked the look of this so I then stamped the Priceless swirl on the background with Going Gray.  I then used the Butterflies die to cut out the big butterfly.  I stamped the wings with the medallion from Bliss using Pretty in Pink, added some pearls and I was done.  I don’t think think I will add a mat to this one.  What are your thoughts?

My last picture used Going Gray cardstock and I stamped the swirl from Baroque Motifs.  I then added my butterflies.  Here is my picture.  I don’t know if I will mat this one or not.  Give me your opinions.

So what do you think of my 3 pictures?  The pictures are all 5 by 7.  I used the colors my daughter is using in the baby’s room – gray, pink, and yellow.  Thanks for looking and have a Marvelous Monday!
