Laura’s Loft – Your Heart’s Desire

Good Morning Everyone!

Well I finally got over to Renee’s to play yesterday!  We had payed for an online class last year and had not had a chance to do the lessons.  This class was on the Smooch paint.  We worked on several of the lessons yesterday and made several samples.  I will be using the samples to make cards to share with you.  We still have a few lessons so I will have some other cards to share with you then also.

Today I am hopping with Laura’s Loft.  Our theme this month is Your Heart’s Desire.  This month we could make a project for any theme we wanted.

If you arrived here from Jasmine’s blog I am sure she had a fabulous
creation for you.  If you missed Jasmine’s stop, then click the previous
button and check out her work.

Laura is also having a Giveaway.  The details are at the bottom!

My first project I decided to use the Impression Obsession Shaker Overlays with the large square to create an underwater scene.  I began by sponging color onto the overlay.  When I was happy with the look, I added some seaweed using a leaf from a stamp set.  Then I wanted to use the gel card idea to give the look of underwater.  I did not have the hair gel you are supposed to use so I took some aloe gel and added ink to the inside of a plastic baggie with the gel and then closed the baggie and mixed the gel and ink.  It worked perfectly.  I then taped the baggie to the overlay and mounted it onto my card base.  I then used Lawn Fawn’s So Jelly to stamp the starfish and the sea nettle and cut them out.  I added some glassy accents to the sea nettle so it would look a little more realistic.  I attached both sea creatures to my card front.  To finish off the card I added some of the Virginia Turtle Enamel Dots in Basic.  My card was finished.  Here is the completed card.
My second project is a cute little shaker that can be used as an embellishment on a card or scrapbook page.  You could also add a magnet on the back and have a cute fridge magnet.
I began with the Impression Obsession Shaker Pouches Small Circles and added some red card stock around the lip on the front and back.  The back piece has a hole in the center so you can add your sequins etc.  After you add your sequins, glitter, etc.  You take another piece of red and glue it on the 2 sides and bottom.  You want to leave the top open so you can put your cover in.  Punch a tag shape and some circle shapes.  Use the circles to create the head and attach to the top of the tag.  Insert the tag into the slot you created between the 2 red circles on the back of the shaker.  This closes the shaker so the embellishments inside do not fall out.  To finish off the lady bug, I used some of the
Virginia Turtle Enamel Dots in Basic.  Here is my cute little lady bug!

We also have a fantastic prize giveaway.  You will definitely want to try and win this!
