Lovely as a Tree Thumping

Hello Everyone ~ I have a Lovely as a Tree Thumping technique for you today.

Well we got home late last night and I was just too tired to do my post.  It was a long driving day and we had rain for most of the time.  That makes it even longer.  We had a great time but we were all tired and so it will be a quiet day for me.  Jess has the 6 hour trip home so she will be super tired this evening.  We had a great time and the girls faces were pure joy with all we did.  Now to work on their scrapbooks!  I will start on making some of the embellishments so I have them ready when I get the photos.

For my card today I used the Lovely As a Tree stamp set.  After many years they are finally retiring this stamp set.  For my card I used a 4 1/4″ x 4 1/4″ panel in Crumb Cake and stamped the strip of trees using Crumb Cake ink.  Then I used the Cherry Cobbler, Crushed Curry, and Pumpkin Pie markers and the thumping technique.  To do the thumping technique you hold the marker by the other end and then lightly pounce it on the stamp.  Do the lightest color first and work to the darkest.  When you are happy with the look you can stop.  You can also do this by inking the stamp up and then thumping on the stamp.  I like to stamp first and then thump so I can see what it looks like and where I may need to add more ink.  Once I had my trees ready, I took some linen thread and wrapped it around the top of the panel at an angle so it crossed in the center.  The image over the thread was colored using the same markers for the thumping.  It was stamped and then cut out.  Using a Crumb Cake card base, I embossed the front using the Woodland embossing folder.  The small panel was added using dimensionals.  Here is the completed Lovely As a Tree Trumping creation.

The thumping technique is a great way to add color to trees. Check out my version of the Lovely As a Tree Thumping card.

envelope ~ I some how missed doing the inside of the card.  I will use a Very Vanilla panel and ink the leaf cluster like the envelope and put it inside.

The leaves were colored with a marker to get the different shades. Check out the trees that were created using the same markers and the thumping technique.
