The Flourishes blog has a Timeless Tuesday challenge each week. This week the challenge was to use vellum on your card. I had a card in my mind and went looking for my pink, blue, and yellow vellum. When I checked my drawer with the vellum in it I couldn’t believe all that I had. I had forgotten all the colors and patterns I had bought in the past. I will definitely need to visit that drawer more often.
Lovely Embossed Vellum
I pulled out my Sizzix embossing folder and used a piece of white cardstock to see how it would work. Once I saw how the folder worked, I used it to emboss a pink and blue flower as well green leaves and gold (didn’t have yellow vellum but did have gold) flower center. It was then that I had the idea to make the white embossed cardstock the center image and the pink and blue flowers as an added element. When I put the white cardstock and pink and blue flower on an invitation size card they didn’t all fit. I didn’t want to eliminate either of the vellum flowers so I decided to use a 5 x 7 card instead. When I looking in the drawer for my vellum I found some mulberry paper (anybody remember that, I haven’t seen it used in a long time). I decided to add a layer under the white embossed layer. When I put the layers on the white card it still needed something so I decided to try embossing a background gold vellum using a Cuttlebug embossing folder. I was even able to match the dots up perfectly! Whoo Hoo for me!
I then put the pieces on the card and it was still missing something, so I pulled out a border punch and added a layer at the bottom. As usual I felt it needed ribbon (love my ribbon) so I added a sparkly ribbon so it would have some bling (like bling on a card also). Again this is a very pretty feminine card. Looks like my daughter will have another card to add to her collection. Here is my creation.

Thanks for looking and have a great day!
