Masculine Birthday Card

Masculine Birthday Card

Happy Monday Stampers – another Monday Masculine Birthday Card that uses scraps of pattern paper.

Are you ready for another idea to use your scraps of pattern paper? I love how the tumbling blocks on this card make this card quick and easy.

The pattern paper on this card determined the colors I used. I love how easy this card is to make using the tumbling blocks idea.

I bet you have a lot of scraps of pattern paper that you can’t bear to throw out. I know I do and I pulled out some of those scraps for my card today. The pattern paper I have a lot of scraps for is the Beauty of the Earth.

My card was based on the sketch challenge at Paper Craft Crew Challenges.

When I saw this sketch I was intrigued by this layout. I just love the tumbling blocks and knew it would be perfect for using up some pattern paper scraps. I cut all my paper to 3 sizes – 7/8″, 1″, and 1 1/4″ – using pattern paper to determine my colors.

I played with the layout of the blocks and once I had the pattern, I had to come up with a background strip. I tried several colors and ended up using Early Espresso. Not my favorite color as the colors do not pop like I would like them but could not find anything that looked ok with the blocks.

When I checked out the layout on a white panel for the background, it needed something. The Brick & Mortar embossing folder came to my rescue. All I needed to do now was assemble my card.

Here are the rest of the measurements to use for your card.

Measurements

Card Base:  Early Espresso 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ scored at 4 1/4″
background layer:  White 4 1/8″ x 5 3/8″
background strip:  Early Espresso 1 1/2″ x 5 3/8″
pattern paper blocks:  Multicolored tree top pattern paper 1″ x 1″ and 1 1/4″ x 1 1/4″
Mossy Meadow blocks: 7/8″ x 7 /8″ and 1 1/4″ x 1 1/4″
Merry Merlot: 7/8″ x 7/8″ and 1″ x 1
Cinnamon Cider: 7/8″ x 7/8″ and 1″ x 1″

I wasn’t certain how to finish the inside of the card and envelope. What I decided to do was to ink up the small treetop using Cinnamon Cider, Merry Merlot, and Mossy Meadow inks with sponge daubers.

The pattern paper on the card front determined the colors I sponged on the stamp. Make sure you check out the card front that used blocks for a fun tumbling block idea.

I have shared several ideas for using scraps of pattern paper on your card. Don’t miss this colorful card that uses strips of paper for a fun effect. Look at how I used strips of navy card stock as an accent for the striped pattern paper.

There were minimal supplies used on my card today. Here is what I used so you can order what you need to recreate this card.
