Milk Painting Anyone?

Hello Stampers!

Yesterday I did some unusual playing.  It was fun to try something new to see if it would work.

I shared a coloring of some flowers I had stamped.  I bet you are wondering what I did with those flowers.  I punched them out and then combined them with a basket I made from the same set.  I made a cute little Artistic Trading Card (ATC).  This is for my pocket letter.  I am swapping with another lady who used to be a demo.  I will remember to take a  picture of this one when it is finished.  Here is the ATC that will go in one of the pockets.

I mentioned earlier in this post that I tried something new.  What I wanted to try was for the next day in the 30 Day Coloring Challenge

I ran across a tutorial that was designed for a kid’s science class.  It was Milk Painting.  I read through the description and decided to try it using our reinkers.  You start with a thin layer of Almond Milk in a container.  You cut some water color paper.  The original set of directions said to drop some food coloring in the milk.  Then you add a few drips of dish soap in the milk and watch the interaction.  You then lay your water color paper on top and allow the ink to transfer to the paper.

Instead of using food coloring I decided to try using our reinkers.  I followed the directions above.  I added the reinkers to the milk.  The reinker started spreading and forming interesting patterns.  When I added the dish detergent, the ink fell to the bottom of the container.  I put in a piece of paper any way to see what would happen.  I did not get the outcome I thought I would.

Since I noticed the reinker reacting to the Almond Milk I decided to try it again and not add the dish soap.  Here are the results I got after 1 transfer to ink.

As you can see I got a much better outcome.  I decided to do another ink transfer.  Not as good as I the first one but I will try and use it in some way.  Here is the second transfer of ink.

Thanks for visiting me today.  I bet you never thought of using Almond Milk in your crafting.  I am beginning to think there isn’t much I won’t try and adapt to using our supplies.  Have a Sensational Sunday!

  2. Very interesting, Robbie. I just happened to have some Almond milk from the grandkids and decided to try this. It is drying right now. Planning to use in our challenge tomorrow. You'll see then what happened. Thanks for sharing the information. I like your results.
