The challenge this week is to make Mother’s Day cards (details are listed below). I have my first card for you and I really like how it turned out. I pulled out some of my Sweet Pea DS paper (trying to use it up before it retires at the end of the month. I loved the Teal with butterflies and went with that idea. Since the paper is pretty busy I decided to use an outline image. I stamped the flower from Fifth Avenue Floral using Versamark and Taken With Teal ink. I then embossed it with clear. I then pulled out my aquapainter and using ink in the lid I colored in every other petal. It still needed something so I use my marker and added some lines going out from the center. I then colored my center circles with a So Saffron marker. When I was finished I spritzed it with my shimmer mist. I let it dry and then cut it out. I mounted my paper on a saffron card base.
I used a So Saffron patterned paper from the same pack and using the scallop trim border added an decorative border. I wanted a teal accent down the center of this strip but I do not have the reinker nor does SU make ribbon to match. No worry I cut a 3/8″ strip of teal longer than the saffron strip and ran it through my crimper. I attached this to the saffron strip and attached the completed strip to the card. I then mounted my cut out flower to the top of the strip with a dimensional. I stamped the sentiment on paper and cut it down to fit in the window punch. I then rounded each end (I need to play with my stamp positioner as I am not good at it and I would have liked a different way to add the sentiment. Anybody have any other ideas?). I used a sponge dauber and added some color around all the edges. I mounted this on the card with dimensionals also.
When I looked at the card it was okay but I wanted it to be a WOW card. I had run across a butterfly challenge at Our Creative Corner and knew that is what the card needed. So I decided to pull out my vellum and play with it. I embossed a piece with an embossing folder and then stamped it with Versamark and Taken with Teal. I then cut it out and put it on the card but it didn’t look right so I stamped a piece of saffron with taken with teal and cut it out. I put the vellum on top of the saffron and it worked so I attached it to the card with dimensionals. Here are both of my cards. Let me know what you think of the card when I “bumped it up”.

I am so excited! Do you see my watermark in my card pictures? Well I decided I needed to try creating an overlay in my photo editing program and I spent about 2 hours (yes I am not computer savvy so it took me lots of trials and errors but I got it) and finally came up with one. Now it is saved and all I have to do is copy and paste this on my photos each time rather than typing it in each time. YEAH FOR ME!!!!!!!!!! Thanks for letting me pat myself on the back and for looking at my creations. Have a Marvelous Monday evening!
