It’s Wednesday!
Wow the middle of the week already. These days are flying by. The convention will be here before I know it.
I saw a summer time challenge at Our Creative Corner and since I am still playing with the brayer I thought I would try and create a flower with the brayer technique since flowers are summer to me. I watched a video for brayer techniques that included the bouncing brayer technique (I can’t find the video but will update this when I find it). When I saw the sample she did I had a brainstorm. What if I did the same effect of the different colors in a circle and then stamped a flower image on it and cut it out. I could see a really pretty flower in my mind so all I needed to do was recreate it.
I began by working with Daffodil Delight (one of the new In colors), Regal Rose, and Elegant Eggplant. Here is my first attempt at bouncing my brayer.
As you can see it was not pretty!
So I grabbed another piece of glossy cardstock, cleaned my brayer, and started again. Here is what I got with my second attempt.
Now there wasn’t any purple on the flower to begin with, so I decided to reink the brayer and bounce it on the outside edge.
Well I think I ruined it but let me cut it out and see.
Yes, I did ruin it. So now I have to begin again.
I didn’t seem to be having success with the bouncing brayer technique and I knew in my head what I wanted color wise so I had to rethink how to achieve what I wanted.
I then decided to go into an entirely different direction. I still used the 3 colors but decided to brayer across the page instead. Here is what the next one looked like.
This one was much better and I knew I could take the small and large oval punches and make a flower.
Well this one was a succes. I punched out the ovals and using a 1 3/4″ circle taped the ovals down like petals on a flower. Here is what my final creation looks like.

When I created the brayered piece for this card, it sparked an idea for tomorrow’s card. I hope you will check back to see it. Thanks for looking and have Wonderful Wednesday!

Robbie,
This card will be on the blog finds tomorrow, but I just had to tell you how much I loved it. I've never tried this technique, but I'll have to give it a shot. I absolutely hate brayers!!! 🙂
Interesting technique, new to me. Your flower came out awesome. Glad you tried again! Great job on the summer inspiration challenge. So happy you could join in the fun with us at Our Creative Corner this week.
Fun and great take on the challenge at OCC… thanks for joining us:-)
