Good Morning Ladies!
Since I am still in San Jose I do not have a card for you today. Instead today and tomorrow I will share our trip to Sequoia National Park. I do have a card for Monday so if you are not interested in seeing pics of our trip come back on Monday and I will have my Late Night Stampers challenge card for you.
For those of you who are still here to see my pics I will be making a mini scrapbook for these pics and will share it with you when I get it done. Here are the pics of our drive there – took us 5 1/5 hours – and the cabin we stayed in.
On the way there we passed a huge reservoir. I think we drove at least 10 miles and were always on the edge of it.
Once we were out of the mountains we were in a huge valley. This valley is used to grow a lot of the food we eat in America. There were huge fields of tomato plants
We saw tons of big trucks hauling 2 cars that were loaded with roma tomatoes like this one
There were also field after field of nut trees – some were pistachios and some were almonds.
The other crop we saw was a melon – not sure if it was honeydew or cantaloupe. This is the machine they use to harvest the crop. The men walk behind it and pick the melon. They then put it on a conveyor belt that rolls the melon into a pallet. The pallets are then stacked on the flatbed.
The last crop we saw before we got to our cabin was groves of orange and lemon trees. These are the lemon trees.
Here are pics of our cabin. The cabin was 1 room, had no tv other than videos and dvd’s, used a swamp cooler rather than an air conditioner, and created it’s own electricity from solar and a generator. This was the deck.
Our kitchen
The bed
They also had a huge metal tub that could be used to cool off in. You had to fill it with water – and no I did not use it.
Finally some pics of the view we had.
So after this long post, here is a picture of the sunset from the first night.
Tomorrow I will share pics of our drive through Sequoia and the giant trees. Thanks for looking and have a Super Saturday!
Robbie
