Good Morning Ladies!
Today I am sharing more pics of our trip. These pics will be of the Park itself and the giant trees.
The drive through the Park to get to the giant trees was gorgeous. Here are some scenery shots.
This was a huge rock as you can see from the people around it.
This rock will be very significant in a later pic.
We are entering the forest. I have tried to take pics of the trees with with cars or people near them so you have something to compare the size to.
The view from the hike from the parking lot to the museum to catch the buses.
Remember the rock I said would be significant earlier. Well they have a trail where you can actually climb to the top of the rock and look out over the entire valley. Here is a shot of part of the trail. I could not do the whole trail as you walked along the side of the rock and if you looked down it was a straight shot to the valley floor. I made it about 2/3 of the way up and had to stop. Just too scary! Michaela made it the whole way to the top.
The next stop on the bus route was a huge tree that they had carved a tunnel out of. During the week they allow cars on this route and you can actually drive through this tunnel. Michaela and I were having fun. She stood on one side and I stood on the other and took pics. That is her on the other side.
These trees have a giant root. Here is a pic of the root of the tunnel tree. You can see the tunnel you can drive through in the lower right corner.
Our next stop was the largest trees existing. They had cut a walkway through the tree. Here is Michaela in the tunnel.
Here is is the largest tree. It is called General Sherman. That is Michaela and myself standing at the base. Can you believe the size of this tree?
The bus driver told us that one of the trees we saw on our drive that had fallen down was actually 2,750 years old. It was amazing. I leave you with the evening sky from our cabin on the last night. I will be back tomorrow with my Late Night Stampers challenge card.
Hope you enjoyed my little tour of our trip. Thanks for looking and have a Sensational Sunday!
Robbie
