Prairie No Time to Stamp black

Like that title? This card is another one for Sharon’s black challenge. I am definitely loving this challenge. I have to admit I am trying more color challenges lately as I like this challenge for a change of pace.

Today’s card uses Amy’s/ sketch challenge. I did flip the sketch a little since my image as pretty large. Here is Amy’s sketch and my card.

Another Black Ink Only Challenge

Second post, scroll down for first.

Well this is my final card for this challenge. I really took off with this challenge and I hope you did not get bored looking at my cards. I will tell you if you this is a good way to create a simple card that really pops. I used the addition of patterned paper in a color to really add an extra eye catcher.

Today’s card did not use a sketch. I liked a card Sharon’s blog so I used her layout and modified it. I am enjoying playing with the color challenges lately. On this card the background black and white paper was a little busy so I used a photo corner to break up some of the pattern. This card is really elegant but was very easy to make. Please leave me a comment and let me know if you have enjoyed my black ink only cards.

Well tomorrow is Friday. Yeah!!!!!!!!!! I hope you have some plans for the weekend. I will be on the Eastern Shore doing a workshop for a friend. Thanks for looking and have a great weekend!

Planet No Time to Stamp Black

Happy Hump Day Everyone!

Sharon at No Time To Stamp issued a challenge to stamp using black ink only. I loved the cards she posted on her blog and decided to try it. I have always loved the look of black as an accent color and hadn’t used it recently so I had fun with this one. I decided to use patterned paper as an added color so the majority of the card is black and white with a pop of color.

For this card I used the sketch from Paper Craft Planet. I liked the layout on this card and lends itself to lots of options. If you have some time visit Sharon’s blog and look at her work. Her cards are beautiful! Here is the sketch and my card.

Stamps: Sprig (CC Rubber Stamps), Delight in Life (retired) Paper: Basic Black, white, Spring Flowers PP (retired), Night Light Papers ( Paper Parachute) Ink: Basic Black Accessories: black brads (Pink Hedgehog), ribbon, sticky tape, dimensionals
Hope you enjoyed this card. I have another one I will post later today. Check it out. Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Pink & Gray Cherish

I recently went through my individual stamps as I hadn’t inked them up lately. I had this stamp and thought it would interesting to cut the center out and line it with patterned paper. I think this was an interesting change from stamping a saying in the center.

The challenge this week on Colour Create was to use pink and gray. I love these 2 colors together. I also knew I had some gray velvet ribbon I knew matched my Basic Gray so I went with it. I recently discovered Deanne’s blog . At Just My Sketches Deanne posts 2 card sketches and 2 layouts each month. I looked through the last 2 months of her sketches and chose this one as I loved the layout. I chose to watercolor the frame as it had been a while since I had watercolored and I was feeling the need. When the card was almost finished it needed something so I pulled out my Star gel pens and added some bling. This is a cute card and other than the frame is fairly easy. Hope you enjoy it.

Edited to add: Here is the sketch I forgot to include.

inside of card

Stamps: Warm Words, Sunflower Frame (JRL Designs) Paper: Basic Gray, white, Prints Pack PP Ink: Basic Gray, Mellow Moss, Pretty In Pink, Regal Rose, Rose Red, Palette Noir Black Accessories: Clear – Gold – Pink – Rose Star gelly roll pens, So Saffron marker, velvet ribbon, sticky tape, dimensionals

Hope you enjoyed this card. It was a little less flowery than my most recent creations but I wanted to do a simple card. I hope you get some time to play today. Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Cased My Own Card

I made this card (second card in post) for Michaela last week that I loved. While reading my blogs I saw a Thumping Challenge on Gina K’s blog and realized that is what I had done on Michaela’s card. I decided to check out the challenge and use the same idea as I had used on my card as I liked the colors.

If you have not been to Stamp TV you need to check it out. Gina has done a great job of posting videos explaining how to cut stamps, techniques, and recently added challenges. The site is new (just this week) so there are only a few videos but she has plans to add more. The quality is excellent and I learned a few things about cutting stamps correctly. Check it out.

Okay on to my card. I used a different stamp as I wanted to try the technique on a bigger stamp. While I am okay with my casing, I think the first card was better. I may try this technique again using 3 colors in the same family. I do like the inside stamped image better as I used the Elegant Eggplant marker to edge the stamp. Here is my creation.

inside of card

Stamps: Scented Storkes (Penny Black), So Many Sayings (retired) Paper: Elegant Eggplant, white, Sage Scroll (Sandy Lion Designs) Ink: Elegant Eggplant Accessories: Mellow Moss – Always Artichoke – Elegant Eggplant – So Saffron markers, ribbon (Pink Hedgehog), sponge dauber, sticky tape, dimensionals
So which is your favorite? Let me know. Hope you have a great afternoon and thanks for looking!
