Petal Pizzazz Friend

I spent some time in my stamp room yesterday. I played with something different on my card I am sharing with you today.

I started with the color challenge at the Color Dare/ blog. The colors were Lovely Lilac, Pale Plum, and Tempting Turquoise. I didn’t have any problem with the Lovely Lilac and Tempting Turquoise but the Pale Plum I thought would be the problem. I have to say the colors do go together and make a very nice color combination. I used the sketch challenge at the Eat Sleep Stamp blog. Tracy had an unusual sketch but I think you will be surprise with how I attacked it.

I chose to use the Petal Pizzazz set as when I looked at the sketch I thought the large flower would be a great background for the center panel with a sentiment stamped over it. I did a second generation stamping with Pale Plum. I then used Tempting Turquoise to stamp the sentiment on top. I then used the small daisy type stamp to stamp around the edges with the 3 colors. I mounted this on cardstock of the 3 colors.

Next I had idea I wanted to play with. The sketch has a diagonal element in the lower left. I wondered what it would look like if I used strips to create this effect rather than adding another layer. I took Tempting Turquoise and stamped it with Fine Flourish to add some interest and cut it in 3/8″ strips. When I laid this on the card I liked the look but it needed something so I pulled out some of the other stamps in the set and did some second generation stamping with Lovely Lilac using a different flower image. I also added a second generation stamping of Pale Plum using the leaf image. This was done in the lower left corner. I then laid the strip on top again and felt the upper right corner was bare so I used a second generation stamping of another flower with Tempting Turquoise. I then applied my strips across the lower left. The vertical element was made by layering the 3 colors and attaching it to the card. I felt the main layer needed something so I added some of my sparkly ribbon and stamped and cut out the daisy image using the 3 colors. They seemed bland, so I used my glitter gel pen to add some bling.

I really like the look of this card. I had fun playing and trying something different. Here is the sketch and my creation. Make sure you leave me a comment and let me know if it was a WOW for you!
