A Picture Frame

I found a great blog. Samantha has some great ideas using punches. What that girl does with punches is amazing. She had a post that I saw and knew I had the perfect idea for it.

Last week she posted a girl in a cap and gown that I thought was so cute. My sister gave me a picture of my youngest and myself at her college graduation in December. It was a good picture of both of us and the wheels started turning. I had some University of Maryland paper I had gotten at a scrapbook store. I thought it would be fun to cover a frame with the paper and attach the girl and put our picture in it.

I purchased an inexpensive wooden frame from Michael’s. Using Mod Podge I attached the paper to the frame. This was my first frame so there was a learning curve involved. Once I get the paper attached and had added 2 layers of Mod Podge I used Mod Podge to attach the black velvet ribbon around the outside. Then the fun began.

I used Samantha’s description on her blog to make the girl in the cap and gown. I did make some adjustments as Michaela does not have curly hair so I modified the scallop circle punch from her post to be straight hair. I also slit the punch to put the head in so the hair fell down the side of the face. I then put my picture in the frame so I could check and see where I wanted my girl placed (couldn’t hide Michaela’s lovely face!). I really like how this turned out and now I have to do another one for my oldest daughter’s picture so I will have one for each girl. Here is the finished project.

Paper: University of Maryland PP, Basic Black, Blush Blossom, Close to Cocoa, Real Red, white Ink: Pretty in Pink (sponged on cheeks) Accessories: Mod Podge, black velvet ribbon (LSS), wooden frame (Michael’s)

Samantha has some awesome creations using punches. Check out her blog for lots of great ideas. Thanks for looking and have a great day!

  1. Creative job Robbie. How adventursome you are getting. I bet those frames would look pretty with some lowered paper as well. Enjoyed. Sandy

  2. OH that turned out really nice. Candice
