Playing Catch Up

Did you think I had fallen off the face of the earth? Did you miss me? I got stuck at a friend’s house in the snowstorm for a few days and I am trying to play catch up.

I have missed making cards the past few days. I wanted to catch up in some of the challenges that I missed so I ended up combining 3 challenges in this card. The Flourishes blog has a challenge this week to use any Spellbinders die cuts. I have several of the shape dies and knew I could do this one.

The Colour Create blog has a blue and brown challenge. I didn’t want to use the typical Bashful Blue and Chocolate Chip. I was going to use Close to Cocoa and I like Ballet Blue but I didn’t like that color combination. So I tried it with Creamy Caramel and I like that combination. When I check the Our Creative Corner blog they had a sketch challenge that had an oval as the main focal point. So I had my sketch, shape, and color combo all decided.

I just got the Fifth Avenue Floral set and I have seen some beautiful cards using it. On Faith’s blog she does a lot of layering which makes her image appear 3 dimensional. I wanted to try this technique so I chose one of the flowers from the set to try this with.

I began by stamping the flower in Night of Navy on Ballet Blue. I did this again and cut out one of the flowers. With the other flower I cut out the bottom 3 petals I then used a sponge dauber to sponge the edges of both flowers. I used a white get pen to color in the stamen then attached the 3 petals I cut out with pop dots. Then using the oval Nestabilities I cut out a white oval and stamped the flower in Night of Navy in the center. Next I used pop dots to place the cut out flower over top of the stamped image on the white. The rest is self explanatory from the picture.

Hope you like this card. Here is the sketch and my creation.
