Playing with Ribbon

On the Mother’s and Daughter’s Creations blog they posted they were sponsoring a challenge on the Cafe Mojo Challenges blog. I decided to check it out and saw it was to use ribbon in a non-traditional way. As I was laying in bed the other night watching tv when I wondered if I could use this beautiful sheer ribbon I had gotten from Heidi. to make a butterfly. I wondered how I was going to be able to pull this off when I remembered I had bought some black pipe cleaners for a plastic canvas project I am doing with the residents at New Towne Village. I decided to play with the ribbon and pipe cleaners to see if it would work. Guess what, it did.

The butterfly was fairly easy to make. You just loop your ribbon several times at different lengths and then wrap the pipe cleaner around the middle. Twist your pipe cleaner several times and then leave a small length at the top for the antennae. They are adorable! I chose to use Tempting Turquoise to match the ribbon. The CuttlebugChallengeBlog posted a sketch which I thought would fit my ribbon butterflies perfectly. Here is the sketch and my creation.
