The Problem Card That Just Wouldn’t Quit

Well I finally got my problems figured out. I wanted to use my new Perfect Details Texturz Plate from Stampin’ Up. The problem was I have a Cuttlebug not a Big Shot. I spent a lot of time trying to figure out the sandwich for the plate so I could get a good crisp emboss. I finally figured it out and was able to get a good imprint.

I had started out with the idea of doing a one layer card. I had this all figured out in my head. I was going to emboss only part of the background using a wooden oval picture frame. So I cut my paper and set about embossing it. I then realized my idea would not work for the one layer as I had cut my paper and I was supposed to emboss the front of the card. I then decided to modify my card and went searching for a sketch challenge that it would fit.

Wouldn’t you know it, all the sketches I could find were color challenges and the colors I had chosen did not fit them. I did run across a sketch that I could modify a little and make it work. Connie at Inkspired Treasures had a sketch that I could modify and make work.

Now that I have a sketch, I thought it would be nice to add some fall color. I have used a brayer and ink pads before to add color to embossed backgrounds. I decided to try using a spectrum pad (Autumn Leaves) to add a variety of colors to my background. I inked up my brayer and began applying the ink. After the first roll I realized I had applied too much pressure as I had blobs of color on my paper. That meant I had to redo my embossing and brayering.

Well I finally got a background piece I could use and was happy with. Then it was a matter of putting the card together. Then it came time to photograph the card. I ran into trouble there as I could not get a good image. I tried ever background I could think of and not of them would give me a clear image. This is the best I could get. Here is my creation. Do you think it was worth all the trouble?
