Shaker Card Idea

Hello Stampers ~ are you ready for A Shaker Card Idea today?

Well I moved into the house yesterday.  There is dust everywhere from the sanding and they are still painting.  The cleaning ladies are supposed to come today also.  I have locked all the doors and changed the garage code so the only way they can get in is to ring the bell.  I will have the apartment furniture delivered on the 9th so it will be bare bones for a while.  I am headed to Jess’ on Thursday so that will help.  I am going to try and get the internet hooked up so I have TV.  I am currently using Barb’s signal which has allowed me to post today card.  I have a hair appointment today so I will be out of the house for a while.  Barb invited me over for dinner last night so Bijou had her first experience in her new room.  I don’t have her cubby fixed up yet so she is still in her crate.  I am hoping to work on that next week as the washer and dryer will be delivered and I would like to have the crate packed in the attic by then.  We will see.

Today’s card is an idea I had and wanted to give it a try.  The Accented Blooms stamp set has the spot for the punch to place your sentiment.  I thought what about cutting the spot out and making it a shaker card.  I stamped the image using Memento Tuxedo Black ink.  I used various markers to color the flowers.  I cut the card stock down and stamped my sentiment in the upper right hand corner.  Then using my craft knife and a ruler I cut out the shape.  I took a piece of fun foam and cut it a little smaller than the image panel.  I set the image panel on top of the fun foam and using a pencil to trace the cut out.  Using my snips I cut the shape out a little larger than the traced shape.  I used a piece of Basic Black cut larger than the image panel for my background. I set this down on my table and layered the image panel and the fun foam so the opening showed through the image panel and fun foam.  I did this upside down and applied multipurpose liquid glue to the back of the fun foam making sure to add glue around the edge of the cut out..  Then holding the 2 layers together I turned them right side up and set them down onto the Basic Black card stock centering them.  I took off the image panel and laid a large block on top of the fun foam to dry.  I then took the image panel and using a piece of window sheet cut a little smaller I attached the 2 using multipurpose liquid glue.  I went back to the Basic Black layers and added some retired sequin assortment.  You then add glue to the back of the window sheet layers making sure to get glue close to the cut out and attach it to the Basic Black layers.  Place a large block on top while it dries to ensure all the edges get sealed well so your sequins do not escape.  I used a Calypso Coral card base that I embossed using the Polka Dot Basics embossing folder.  Multipurpose Liquid Glue was used to attach the shaker card element to the card base.  Here is the completed A Shaker Card Idea.
