Shop Your Craft Stash Series

Hello Stampers ~ wait until you see my Shop Your Craft Stash Series!

I spent a lot of time yesterday checking out grills and smokers.  I want both so I needed to see what I could get locally.  I went to Lowe’s and talked to someone there.  I also stopped at a local propane store to see what they had to offer.  I found some but the prices were a lot more than I had planned.  I can get a cheaper grill but not sure if that is way to go.  I also looked at wall cabinets as I need one in my garage over my sink.  I need to check with my neighbor to see which way to go with the grill as well as the cabinet.  I also came home and spackled my wall that was damaged by the movers.  It was a few spots so I applied the spackle.  I am hoping it will be dry today so that I can sand it and then paint my walls that need to be touched up.  I did spend some time in my studio working on cards.  I played with some of the backgrounds I shared in my Facebook Live.  I will be making cards with them for this week.  All in all a productive day!

Are you like me when you look at the Annual Catalog?  When I look at the offerings I see so many stamp sets that are similar to what I already have.  Knowing I have something similar ~ even if it has retired ~ I cannot justify purchasing new stamp sets.  That is where the idea for this series came from.  I am going to take product I have that is retired and combine it with something new from the catalog.  I am hoping with will open your eyes to other possibilities as to how you can use what you have by Shopping Your Craft Stash!

For today’s card I found a sketch on Tuesday Morning Sketches that I could use.

I opted to use stamp set that I loved when it was current.  The Birthday Blooms set has a large image that is fun to color, emboss, and even stamp in black.  I knew I could use the image for the large square on the sketch.  I decided to pair the stamp with the current See a Silhouette designer series paper.  Using a blender pen and ink in the lid, the image was colored using the colors in the paper.  After the image was colored, I cut out the image.  I also stamped, colored, and cut out the buds on the card.  These were used for the butterfly elements on the sketch.  For the strips at the bottom I used some of the retired Daffodil Delight stitched ribbon.  All the elements from the sketch were attached to a Poppy Parade panel.  This panel was added to a Whisper White card base.

Now if you no longer have the Birthday Blooms stamp set the Beautiful Friendship stamp set in the annual catalog could easily be used for the center image.  Here is the Shop Your Craft Stash Series creation.

Do you have a lot of retired product and want to know how to use it with current product? My Shop Your Stash Series is just what you need. Click the photo to see the first idea in this series.

Stampin’ Up supplies used for my creation

Thanks for visiting me today and I hope I inspired you.  I am going to go to a couple of stores and see if I can find some bar stools.  I may also get the cabinet and grill or smoker depending on what my neighbor suggests I do.  Wish me luck!  I do want to play in my studio also!  Have a Super Saturday and what do you think of my new Shop Your Craft Stash Series?

  1. Good Saturday morning Robbie,
I think personally that this is a great idea. I too have noticed that some of the older sets are a close resemblance to the newer ones, with maybe a slight tweak here or there. When I purchase a stamp set its because I like the design, and I am not looking to resell and buy new. I am looking forward to see what you have in mind for this new series.
Thank you for your time and sharing.

  2. Hi Robbie I to like the idea of this series. I have quite a stash of stamp sets and see the same thing in the new catalogs sometimes with just a new word stamp or additional image.

    • Alyse ~ I am so glad to hear this. I was hoping there were others out there who felt this way. I am looking forward to sharing some ideas.

      Robbie
