A square card for a change

Well I was a complete bum yesterday. I didn’t get any stamping done. I spent a lot of my day rolling and organizing my huge ribbon order I got about a month ago. Today I am going to attempt to stamp some full sheets of cardstock that I can use for one sheet wonder cards. I also would like to finish up the ribbon (especially since I have another order coming in this week).

My card today is a little different. I ended up making a square card as the sketch just lent itself to a square. I used Tracy’s sketch from her blog Eat Sleep Stamp. I combined it with the color challenge at Diva Coffee Break Designs blog. You were to use Basic Black, Whisper White, and Basic Gray or Going Gray. I opted for Basic Gray. I have to admit I wasn’t sure what I was going to do and then it hit me – what about a play with opposites. I thought it would be fun to use black and stamp white, gray and stamp black and white and stamp black. Next I needed to find an image that would look good stamped in black with no other colors. I ended up using the bird from Fun & Fast Notes. I used Baroque Motifs and stamped the swirl on the black and embossed with white. I then used a marker and colored the flower in the bird’s mouth and stamped it all over the gray piece. I stamped the bird using Basic Black. All I had to do then was put my layers together and add some embellishments. I decided to use the black gingham ribbon since it fit my color scheme. Here is the sketch and my creation.
