Stampin’ Up Special Moments Friend
Hello Everyone – I have a great color combination that came from the pattern paper I used for my Stampin’ Up Special Moments Friend creation.
I was inspired by a card Jill Hayden Peterson and decided to make my version of the card. I loved how she created an angled edge on the card front with some pattern paper peeking out. I did add a few extra elements to my card front and I love the sentiment I used on my card.
Measurements for the Stampin’ Up Special Moments Friend card
Card Base: Flirty Flamingo 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ scored at 4 1/4″
Daffodil Delight paper layer: 1 1/4″ x 5 1/2″
White: 2 7/8″ x 5 1/2″
scraps for sentiment and flower
Here are the steps I used to make my card
- use the Basic Borders dies to cut the edge of the card front
- emboss the card front with the Brick & Mortar embossing folder
- stamp the flower with Basic Gray ink 3 times using a second generation stamping
- use the Flirty Flamingo marker to color in the center of each flower
- punch each flower out using the coordinating punch
- curl the petals of 2 flowers down using a bone folder
- cut the petals of the other flower up using the bone folder
- attach the 2 flowers with petals curved down together with a dimensional
- add the remaining flower with petals curved up with a dimensional
- use a dimensional to attach the flower to the card front at the point of the die cut edge
- stamp sentiment onto scrap of white using Basic Gray ink
- punch with the Rectangular Postage punch – punch close to one end of the sentiment, reinsert the shape back into the punch and have the other end of the sentiment close the the punching area and punch creating a smaller version of the punch shape
- add the sentiment to the card front using dimensionals
- take the White frayed ribbon and pull the thread to unravel the ribbon, make sure you pull a lot out as you will use the thread you pulled out to create the bow on the card
- wrap the thread around the card front 2 times and tie a bow at the top of the card front
- glue the Daffodil Afternoon pattern paper to the right hand side of the inside of the card
- add the White panel next to the pattern paper
Here is a close up the ribbon so you can see this fun fuzzy ribbon.
The sentiment is from a great stamp set that is an option for Sale-a-bration. The Special Moments stamp set has great sentiments to use for the inside and outside of your card.
I also used another Sale-a-bration product on my card. The Daffodil Afternoon pattern paper makes the perfect background and helps with choosing colors for my card base. Lots of new items on this card that I paired with items from the annual catalog.
The Basic Borders dies are fun to use on your cards. This idea uses one of the dies to make a fun edge on a panel. This card uses the same border used on today’s card for a fun corner element.
