Torn Paper Technique
Hello Everyone ~ I went back to an old idea with my Torn Paper Technique share for today.
Every once in a while a see a card that uses a technique that I have not used in a while. Today’s card fits that idea. I ran across a card by a fellow demonstrator and fell in love with it so I had to have a play with it.
Torn paper is a great way to add texture to your card without a lot supplies or skills. There is a bit of a technique to tearing the paper but I have a few tips for you.
The first tip is to always tear your card stock towards you. So if you are tearing an edge off, hold the card panel ~ this case mine was 4″ x 5 1/4″ ~ and using your other hand tear the paper towards you.
Second, when tearing keep it in small tears. By using small tears you have more control over where your card stock tears.
Third, follow the tear with your fingers of the hand you are holding the card panel in. Using small tears and following with your fingers allows you to tear your card stock exactly where you want your tear to be.
Since I was tearing off a corner of my card panel I knew I wanted to add something to the exposed corner. I chose to use the image from Very Versailles to tie the card together. You can also add a sentiment there if you don’t want to add your sentiment to the card panel.
On the remainder of my panel I stamped the images from the stamp set and then finished off the panel with a strip of ribbon to again add more texture.
Today’s card used the Very Versailles stamp set.
I love the script image as well as that leaf spray. They were perfect for my card. Check out my Torn Paper Technique creation.

Want to see some other ideas for the torn paper technique? Here is one where I used the strip of card stock in the middle to allow me to use a smaller piece of patterned paper on the card front. Don’t miss this video for a masculine card idea where I used the torn paper to create a focal point for my image.
