Under the Sea ornament punch fish

Well we are half way through another week. I can’t believe that in 2 weeks I will start teaching my graduate course. It just seems like I just finished one.

Today’s card is for the Late Night Stampers Under the Sea challenge. I have seen a number of fish created with the ornament punch so I thought I would give it a try. I began by making my water background. I wrapped a rubber band around the brayer and brayered Baja Breeze on the Baja Breeze cardstock. I then used Whisper White craft and a dauber to added some white on the swirls. I wanted to add some air bubbles so I went looking for a circle that I could use. I thought about the top to the cleaner mist but it was too big. I then looked at the lid of a marker but it had another circle that would have inked up and not given me the look I wanted. I then looked at my aqua painter but it had the clip on the side and the bottom had a seam. I then looked at my Versamark pen and the lid of it worked. I dipped the lid into the Whisper White craft and stamped on my background. I allowed it to dry some and then using my glue pen added some dazzling diamonds. I was pleased with my background.

Now I needed to do my fish. I wanted my fish to be as close to a real tropical fish as possible so I looked up all kinds of tropical fish pictures and decided on the one that looks like my fish. I punched the ornament and 5 petal flower punch out of Daffodil Delight. I sponged on Tangerine Tango around the edge of the fish beginning closer to center and working my way towards the edge. Once I was happy with it I needed a bright blue so I pulled out Pacific Point and sponged it on. While it did not give me the vibrant color in the photo it was okay. Using a Basic Black marker I drew the eye and lines in the middle of the fish. Now I needed to do the tail. I took the 5 petal punch and cut off 2 petals and reshaped the end to look more like the tail of a regular fish. I sponged on Tangerine Tango and attached to the fish with a glue dot. My final embellishing was to use the glue pen and go around the outside of the fish then added dazzling diamonds. My fish was completed!

My underwater scene needed some plants so I pulled out Pocket Silhouettes and added some plants with Wild Wasabi. I attached my fish to the card with dimensionals but it needed something else so I punched some circles out of Baja Breeze. I then added Whisper White craft around the edges and when the ink was dry I used my glue pen to add some dazzling diamond. When they were dry I attached to card with dimensionals.

You cannot see it in the photo but the card is very subtly sparkly, just enough to make it look real. Here is my creation.

Hope you enjoyed today’s card. Why don’t you make an underwater/beach project and share it with me. I would love to see what you come up with. Thanks for looking and have a Wonderful Wednesday!
