Using Die Cuts to Make a Background
Happy Friday Everyone – using die cuts to make a background is a great way to create the perfect look for you handmade card.
I pulled out my dies to make this beautiful Fall background. I am loving this color combo!
For my card today I wanted to try using my die cuts as a stencil as a way to show you how you can extend your supplies. I pulled out my Intricate Leaves to make my cutouts.
Since my Friday focus has been on color combinations, I decided to see if I could find a color challenge with Fall colors. Sometimes I just want some fresh color combos so I will check out my challenge blogs to see if any of them have one that grabs my attention. There was an interesting combination at Color Throwdown that I decided to use.
Wait until you see this color combo come to life in my video. I was amazed at how well the colors blended.
Here are the measurements I used on my card so you can use them for your card.
Measurements
Card Base: Real Red 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ scored at 4 1/4″
background layer: White 4″ x 5 1/4″
background layer for side panel: Real Red 2″ x 5 1/4″
leaves background panel: White 1 3/4″ x 5 1/4″
leaf cut outs: White scraps
Check out how I used the the left over die cut leaves on the inside and how I sponged the colors on the stamp for the envelope.
Stencils are fun to use to create interesting backgrounds. Check out this idea that used a partial inking of the stencil. The Forever Flourishing dies were used as a stencil for this background.
Here are my products used for the using die cuts to make a background idea.
