A watercolor thank you card for today!

Hello Everyone ~ I was C.A.S.E.ing the Catty again and this time I chose a Watercolor Thank You card!

Do you ever start to do something and then remember you have something else you need to get done so stop and move to the other project?  That is what yesterday was like for about an hour.  I am not sure why but for some reason I could not focus on the project I started.  I finally forced myself to work on the one project I had started which was my video.  After my video was completed I was then able to work on the rest of my projects without any issues.  Not sure why I could not settle down as the video was not hard and I knew what I was doing.  Make sure you come back tomorrow to see my video!

The challenge this week at C.A.S.E. the Catty is to choose a project from the Artistic Expression section on pages 132-181 of the Annual catalog.  I love to watercolor!  While I am not the best at it I am always playing on the premise that I will improve.  In checking out the section, there was a card there that used watercoloring and a set I have not used as intended very often.  The Bunch of Blossoms set I have used quite a bit to create seashells.  I have to admit I have not created many flowers with it.  I knew the card on page 135 would be the one I would do.  I began by using a piece of Shimmery White card stock and attempted a watercolor background.  I could not get mine to look like the one in the picture when I realized I did not wet my paper first.  If you want a soft watercolor background wet your paper before adding ink with your aqua painter!  I set this aside to dry and started working on my flower.  Memento Tuxedo ink was used to stamp the petals of the flower.  These were allowed to dry also so the ink would not bleed.  After about 10 minutes, I stated watercoloring my petals.  The star shapes were colored with Crushed Curry.  Next the larger petals were watercolored with Blushing Bride.  There must have been some Crushed Curry left in my brush as there are streaks of peach on the petals.  I really liked this look so I kept coloring.  When the large petals were completed I began the small petals and used Calypso Coral.  The only thing left were the leaves.  Those were colored with Wild Wasabi.  To create the flower I punched a 1″ circle and added some strong adhesive.  I then curled the petals and attached the larger ones matching the centers to the center of the circle.  Once the large petals were added, I repeated the process with the smaller petals.  I did end up using some glue dots once several of the petals were attached as there wasn’t any glue left for the other petals.  I added the star shape in the center with a glue dot and then the other star on top with a glue dot and offsetting from the first shape.  My flower was complete and I added it to the watercolor piece with dimensionals.  The sentiment was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black at the bottom.  The watercolor piece was mounted onto a piece of the Delightful Daisy dsp.  Linen thread was wrapped around 3 times and secured on the back.  The card in the catalog is a smaller card but I prefer the A2 size card so I chose to use a regular size card base.  I used the Polka Dot basics embossing folder to add some embossed dots to the front of my Calypso Coral card base.  The flower layer was added to card base using dimensionals.  Using the line thread, I created a multi-loop bow and attached to the strip of linen thread with a glue dot.  Here is my finished creation.
