Hand Stamped Sentiments – Mother’s Day card and gift

Happy Tuesday Everyone!

I have 2 new ideas for you today.  I have to tell you they are not my ideas but they were new to me.

At Hand Stamped Sentiments this week we have a Mother’s Day theme.  We are to create a project with this theme.

I saw a card on Libby’s blog that I wanted to give a try.  She said the pattern for the card came from Mirkwood Designs  so I checked out the site and saw that the templates listed are free so I downloaded the pattern.

I got my colors from the color challenge at Create, Ink!

I wanted to use patterned paper on the front heart but I was thinking it would be fun to stamp on it.  Rather than stamp, I decided to use the swirl from Baroque Motifs and a glue pad to add some Dazzling Diamonds.  I like how it turned out and know I will be doing it again.  After that I just had to create my card.    I used patterned paper for the other colors also.  Here is my card.

Now this week we not only had to make a card we also had to make a 3D gift item.  Quite some time ago I saw on Becca’s Blog a picture frame she had made where she wrapped the mat with ribbon.  I could not find a ribbon that would work, so I decided to cover the mat with designer series paper and add a ribbon.  I did use some retired paper as it was Pink Pirouette and would go with the card.  I got a frame from a big box store on sale.  Here is what I did with the frame.

close up of the ribbon – I did use a Regal Rose ribbon as the Pink Pirouette did not do the frame justice – so you can see the patterned paper more

I hope you enjoyed my card and gift item today.  The card is actually for my daughter and the frame will have a picture of Zoie in it for her moother-in-law (don’t worry I bought 2 frames so I could do one for myself).

Make sure you check out the Hand Stamped Sentiments blog to see what the other design team members created.  Then why don’t you join us and make a Mother’s Day card or gift item and upload it to the blog.

Thanks for looking and have a Terrific Tuesday!

Robbie

  4. Awesome card, Robbie! I love the fun folding! What a great way to dress up a frame. That is going to make a great gift and putting a photo of little Zoie in it will be the best part! 🙂 Hugs!
