Today I ran across a challenge on Facebook that I wanted to try. The Case the Catty Sunday Challenge had a color challenge based on the colors in the Blackberry Beauty pattern paper.

The next requirement of the challenge was to use a card from the catalog for the layout. I chose to use the card on page 47 of the July – Dec catalog. I liked the layout and decided to use the new colors to make the card.

I began by using the blending brushes to blend the colors onto a piece of white. Once I was happy with the blended colors the dies were used to cut out the leaves.

Using blending brushes to color your card stock is a great way to create paper you can then cut out with your dies. Check out the full view of the card to see all the details.

The original card had a fun front panel that I used the stamps from the set to create using the colors from the challenge. I began with a 4 1/4″ x 4 1/4″ square of white and stamped the wood stamp in the center with Early Espresso. Then I used the splatter stamp to add some color around the wood center.

The card in the catalog had pattern paper on the card front. I chose to use the splatter stamp to add some texture to my card base.

To assemble the card I added the stamped square to the upper left hand corner of the card front. I made sure that the upper corner was covered and the upper and left side edge was also covered.

I did not have a layer to attach my ribbon to the card with so I used the Detailed Trio punch to punch a section of the left hand side out. This then allows me to thread the ribbon through.

To decorate the inside of the card and envelope I used the stamp and sponged ink onto it using sponge daubers.

These beautiful leaves were colored using the ink pad and a sponge dauber. The Stampin' Up Gorgeous Leaves Color Challenge card uses colors from pattern paper. See the details for the card by clicking the photo.

Here is another card where I colored the leaves using sponge daubers. This is a card that uses the same technique but different colors.

  1. Th gorgeous Leaves bundle is gorgeous indeed. I love that color combo. The diagonal panel adds interest and that gold metallic ribbon just ties it all into a nice bundle.
