How to do a Watercolor Background for your cards

Hello Everyone – are you ready to learn How to do a Watercolor Background for your cards?

I love the look of watercolor backgrounds so I decided to play with 2 ideas for my You Tube Live. The first idea began with embossing the Color & Contour image onto watercolor paper. I could then add a Balmy Blue watercolor background before completing the card with more watercoloring.

The second card uses some stamping on a watercolor background. You will need to use a Misti or other stamping platform so you get a good image on the watercolor paper. I then added some die cut images for the second idea.

It is easy to watercolor a background with soft colors. I recommend using some of the subtle colors as they are light and easy to use for the technique.

I love using watercoloring for my cards. The technique is fun to play with and you never know what the final look will be. If you would like to see the video for how I made these cards, here is the link to the video. To skip the chit chat at the beginning jump to 4 minutes 45 seconds.

For the first card after I added the background to the embossed image I went back and watercolored the image. For the second card after I did the background I stamped the leaf sprays then stamped and die cut some flowers.

The same images on the card front were also used for the inside of the card and envelope. This creates a complete card set.

I have done several watercolor card ideas. Here is one that uses a different technique than today’s 2 cards. Here is an idea that uses the same technique as today but this time uses 2 colors instead of 1.

Have you created any watercolor background cards? If so, share them with me as I wold love to see yours.
