Another New Technique

Hello Ladies!

Well Candice and I got all the projects we wanted to get done completed.  We have a few things left to do that we will do one day next week and then we are done.  On Friday we will do the shopping and hopefully we will be able to set up for Saturday.  I am looking forward to Saturday.

The SUDSOL group had another technique challenge this week.  The other technique that I wanted to give a try was Re-inkers and Acrylic block watercolors.  Basically you take the large acrylic block and spritz it with water.  Then you take re-inkers and drop drips randomly around the block.  You then take watercolor paper and place it on top of the block.  Take the paper off and you have a background.  You can repeat this up to 3 times and still get a background.

Since I wanted to use this technique, I decided to see if I could find a color challenge for my colors.  I found one that I liked the colors they wanted you to use at Colour Me…!  This week they wanted you to Colour Me… subtles!

Some things I learned ~ The first time I did it I moved the paper around.  While this creates a beautiful background it is not the look you should achieve.  Use only a few drops of each color.  The first time I used a lot of drops and I did not have much white space.  I also found the more water on the block the better the colors bled into the paper.

Here are pictures of the papers I created.

Here is the card I created using one of the papers.

I could not think of what to use to decorate the inside of my card or my envelope.  I remembered the Work of Art stamp set.  I wondered how I could get a similar watercolor look as the background.  I then thought about what I might do to get the look.  I decided to try the same technique as was used for the background.  I think I used too many drops of re-inker but it will be something I try at a later date.

Thanks for visiting me today.  I enjoyed this technique and made several other papers that I will use in the next few weeks to create some cards.  Have a Great Day!
