Blended Background to highlight a die cut

Happy Sunday everyone – I have a quick idea for a Blended Background to highlight a die cut for you today.
I am always looking for other ways to do a background on my cards. I can use a die cut or an embossing folder but sometimes I want something else. Using a shaped stencil is a fun and different idea.
Today’s Project
Using your shape dies you can create your own stencil that you can use to create a background. A piece of acetate makes a great stencil and you can use any shape die you have. For this card I used a rectangle but you can also use a circle, triangle, or a diamond.

This is a great way to use your dies in a fun way. The blended background grounds your dies and makes them stand out. Adding highlights with ink draws attention to the dies.

See how to make your stencil and then create this card in this video.

I have used several ways to create backgrounds for my cards. Here is an idea that uses scoring. This card uses another homemade stencil idea for a background.
About the card
white – 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ scored at 4 1/4″ -card base
3 7/8″ x 5 1/8″
bright pink – 4″ x 5 1/4″
green – scrap for die cutting
yellow – scrap for die cutting
Supplies used for the Blended Background to highlight a die cut
Company of Flowers – Penny Black
Rectangle die – Spellbinders
pink gems

I hope you will try making your own stencil to use for creating a background for your card. I can’t wait to try some other shapes.
Thanks for visiting. Have a Sensational Sunday!
