Coloring Down the Lines – monochromatic

Good Morning Ladies!

Well I did not get to work on my taxes yesterday.  I had lunch with a friend and it went longer than I thought.  It was good to catch up with her so it was worth it.  I had to make my cards for my workshop next week when I got home and clean my bathroom.  Needless to say I did not get to work on my taxes.  That is on the agenda for today so I will work on it in the late afternoon after I babysit Remi while Jess has a doctor’s appointment.

I also needed to do my coloring for the Coloring Challenge.

We are quickly counting down the remaining days.  One idea I have been wanting to try is coloring some of the Irresistibly Yours specialty ds paper.  I needed to do it quickly so I began burnishing on the color but it was not fast enough.  I then moved to the brayer.  It was faster but I did not like the look of it.  So for my last piece I tried spritzing on the color and liked the look so much better.

My goal is to work this up for a class.

Today is our Coloring Down the Lines blog hop.  This week our colors were chosen by Sandy.

With these colors I felt I needed to make a masculine card.  I was not certain which sets I had that were masculine other than the goose in the Wetlands set.  I was not in the mood to play with the goose so I had to look further.  I then remembered the fern in the Butterfly Basics and knew what I wanted to do.

I saw a card created by Michele Boyer at Paper Cuts that I wanted to try my version of.  It used the emboss resist technique.  I started by stamping my fern and embossing it.  I then started by burnishing on my color.  I added Chocolate Chip to the very edges at the bottom.  Then I added some Soft Suede at the bottom and more at the top.  This I added a small amount of Crumb Cake.  I ended by adding some Sahara Sand.  I think these colors blend well with the Very Vanilla card stock.  I then need to add some other elements as it seemed bare.  I pulled out my Chocolate Chip chevron ribbon and attached it to the bottom.  I gathered it using a brad base and topped the base with a candy dot.  Next I needed my sentiment so I pulled out my Regarding Dahlias set for the Hi.  I added it to the Label Bracket punch and put some brown thread behind it.  Here is what I came up with.

Are you ready to see what the other ladies on the hop created?  Hop on over to Amanda’s blog – Our Crafty Playdate to see what she created.  I am sure she did an awesome job with these colors.

Thanks for visiting me today.  I am hoping to get to the yarn store this morning as I have to work tomorrow and cannot go over there.  Have a Wonderful Wednesday!
