One Layer Challenge

Good Monday Morning Everyone!

I suggested a one layer challenge at Late Night Stampers.  I thought it would be fun to try this.  All last week I was working on my layout in my head.  On Saturday I played a little to see what I could come up with.

I began with the sketch challenge at Cards and Things.

I decided to stamp my image in the center.  I then punched out a circle from a post-it note to put over top the image.  Next I wanted to mimic a scallop layer so I took a piece of paper and punched out the edge with the scallop trim edge punch.  I applied a small amount of snail to the back and stuck it to the card.  My thought was I could brayer on the color I wanted the layer to be.  I had wanted to use Cherry Cobbler and Daffodil Delight to mimic card layers.  I stuck my punched scallop mask down and brayered on my Cherry Cobbler.  When I finished and carefully pulled off the mask, it pulled some of my cardstock also.  It was then I realized I had not embossed my background.  So now I had to begin again.

I stamped my center image again and then pulled out my Versamark and used clear embossing powder to emboss the starburst.  To mimic brads, I punched out 1/4″ circles from post-it notes and added them in the upper left hand corner.  I used my mask on my image and applied tape to the center of the scallop mask (this was stuck to the mask on the center image so it would not pull up my cardstock again.  I did not like how the brayering looked so I decided to sponge on the color.  This worked much better.  I did the Cherry layer first as I figured the Daffodil would be easier to do last.  Before I sponged on the Daffodil I added a butterfly and embossed it with clear also.  Now I was ready to sponge on the Daffodil.  The only thing left is to use my gold gel pen on the brad circles to give it a little bling.  Here is what I created.

a flat view so you can see it is only 1 layer

I ran across an idea on another blog that I wanted to play with.  It will also be a 1 layer card for our challenge this week.  I am hoping it turns out like I think it will.  Be looking for it at the end of the week.

Thanks for looking and have a Marvelous Monday!

Robbie
