Fair Entries – I won!

My sister encouraged me to enter some of my cards in the St. Mary’s County Fair. I thought it might be fun to see how I could do. Our Fair only had one category for rubber stamping so I chose a card I think was good and entered it. I won a first place ribbon! I was so excited I decided to try Calvert County Fair. They had 4 categories and I had projects for 3 so I took a chance and entered there also. I won a first place ribbon for all 3 entries there also. I was so excited. I think I will be entering again next year. Here is a picture of each fair entry.

Getting Krafty

There is a September challenge on Verve’s website where you create a card and have to use Kraft cardstock as part of your card.  In one of my orders from Julee she had used this pretty tissue paper to wrap my stamps in.  I thought it would be fun to use the tissue paper on the card.  I knew the faux silk technique used tissue paper so I decided to use that to create my card.  It was fun doing this technique but I have to get a glue stick as I had to use glue to attach the tissue paper to the white cardstock and I had to wait until it had dried.  Here is my creation which I really like.

Stamps: Floral Whimsy, Thoughtful Florals Paper: Cool Carribean, Kraft, white Ink: Basic Gray, Cool Carribean Accessories: ribbon (Michael’s), slot punch, Spring Bouquet punch, Trio Flower Punch, Word Window punch, Swiss Dot Cuttlebug embossing folder, silver brads, tissue paper, glue, sponge dauber, sticky tape, dimensionals

It may be hard to tell, but the tissue paper has silver specs in it which adds some extra bling.  Hope you like it.  Thanks for looking and have a great day!

OCC Case Challenge

Our Creative Corner does a weekly challenge that I have done a few times. They had a mid-week challenge to case one of their designers. Their designers are awesome and it was very hard to find just one card to case. I chose Laurie Schmidlin because when I first saw her card I wanted to case it Here is the card I cased with a few changes. This is such a pretty card and very feminine. It will be a great card to send to a special friend. Here is my take on her card.

Stamps: Priceless Paper: Sahara Sand, So Saffron, white, vellum Ink: Whisper White craft Accessories: white detail embossing powder, ribbon, scallop punch (Stamping’ Up), Martha Steward edge punch, vellum tape, dimensionalsI hope you can see all the pretty detail with this card as it was a challenge to photograph. I spent a lot of time in my stamp room today so I will have some goodies for you this week to make up for last week’s lack of posting. Thanks for looking and have a great evening!

What a week!

Wow I can’t believe it is Saturday already. Where did the week go? I have been so busy I haven’t even had a chance to stamp. I took some time yesterday and used Beate’s Weekend Sketch Challenge to do this card. I realized as I was posting it though that I modified the sketch a little. My panels should have been closer together with a wider space on the right side. Should have looked at the sketch carefully before I glued the panels on. So what do you think? This is a great way to use up scraps as I chose the paper from my scrap case. Since I have so many scraps I will be using this layout more. Here is the sketch and my card.

Stamps: Curvy Verses Paper: Almost Amethyst, Certainly Celery, So Saffron, Tempting Turquoise, white Ink: Basic Black Accessories: ribbon (Stampin’ Up), dew drops (0nline share), sticky tape (Taylored Expressions), dimensionals

It is going to be a great weekend for stamping with all the rain. Hope you get a chance to create this weekend. Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Patriotic Bee

This is another image I got from the image swap.  I must admit that I struggled with what to do with this image.  I began by coloring the image.  I remember I had some fireworks looking paper and thought it would be a good idea to use it on the background.  From there I just kept adding pieces until I was finished.  I must admit I am happy with how it turned out. What do you think?

Stamps: Bee (Stampendous – couldn’t find the name on their website), Great Greetings (retired) Paper: Bashful Blue, Real Red Yoyo Yellow, white, DCWV Summer Stack Ink: Basic Black Accessories: Bashful Blue – Real Red brads, scallop punch, Bashful Blue – Real Red – Yoyo Yellow markers, ribbon (Pink Hedgehog), Sakura Gelly Roll Stardust pen, crystal effects, dimensionals

I am away for the weekend for a much needed vacation.  I hope you all have something fun planned for this fair weekend.  I decided to enter one of my stamped cards into the fair.  Wish me luck!  Have a great weekend and thanks for looking!
