Stampin’ Up Jar of Love

Hello Stampers ~ This time of year lightning bugs are everywhere and the Stampin’ Up Jar of Love set is perfect for creating some.

Well I made my list like I said I should do.  I had 7 things on my list.  I got 5 of them completed so I was hopping.  I would have gotten more completed but I met Jess, Michaela, and the girls and we went to the pool when she got off work for a few hours.  Zoie and Remi love the water.  They were in the pool the entire time other than the mandatory rest period.  When we finally got them out to go home they were shivering.  They will sleep good tonight!  When I got home this evening I stopped to get my mail.  When I opened my mailbox it fell off the pole.  Someone had hit it and broke it off and then jury rigged it to look like it was fine.  I was so mad!  This is the 4th time my mailbox has been hit and I have had to replace to rod that holds it to the pole.  This rod is made of metal and very thick and held on with bolts.  When they are hitting it they are breaking the rod so they are doing some damage to their car.  It just makes me mad that the person who hit it did not own up to it and offer to replace it.

In working my way through the catalog the next set I had was the Jar of Love.  I have used this set a lot but had never played with the lightning bugs.  I thought it would be fun to create a card for the girls.   I can remember as a little girl catching lightning bugs and putting them in a jar.  At the wedding last weekend Zoie was catching them and putting them in a large plastic bag as someone had given her one to keep them in.  Since lightning bugs are seen at night, I opted to use Night of Navy as my background.  I stamped some of the leaf branches on the bottom using Night of Navy ink to make it look like a field.  I attached this panel to a Whisper White card base.  Since you have to have a jar to collect your lightning bugs in, I stamped the jar and lid and used the framelit to cut it out.  To give the appearance of a jar that is see through, I fussy cut the center of the jar out.  I added this to the card base using dimensionals.  Now it is time to do my lightning bugs.  I stamped a bunch of them and colored them.  I also used some Wink of Stella on them to give them some sparkle.  I used the framelit to cut them out.  They were added to the card front using dimensionals and glue dots.  To finish off my creation, I stamped the sentiment from the stamp set and flagged each end.  I mounted it onto a piece of Daffodil Delight card stock and flagged the ends also.  The sentiment layer was added to the card using dimensionals.    Here is the completed Stampin’ Up Jar of Love.

Thanks for visiting me and I hope I inspired you.  I have a busy morning and then I am headed to the yarn store.  I have to be back home by 1 as I have someone coming to fix my florescent light.  I will work on the other items on my list after that.  Have a Great Day and have you used the lightning bugs in the Stampin’ Up Jar of Love stamp set?
