Sunday ideas - Faux Silk technique

Hello everyone – There are so many techniques from years ago and today I am sharing a Sunday ideas – Faux Silk technique card.

I have been crafting for around 30 years. There are so many techniques I remember doing when I first started. I decided to revisit some of them over the next few weeks to remind you of these ideas.

Today’s Project

If you have been crafting for a while you may not remember some of the techniques you did when you first started. One of those techniques was Faux Silk. In this technique you use tissue paper and either a a piece of pattern paper or a stamped panel. The idea is to make the panel look like silk fabric. The tissue paper I used had a shiny backing. I think is not what I should have used for a couple of reasons. The first is it is not translucent so you really can’t see the pattern paper. The second is the shiny side was put down so it did not stick to the panel like it should have. If you try this technique, keep those ideas in mind.

You crumple the tissue paper and then flatten it out so slight wrinkles are left in the paper. When you attach the paper it has the texture of faux silk fabric. Since the focus should be the background all you need to add is a cluster. I used elements from the collection for the cluster.
