Watercolor Wash

Happy Weekend Stampers!

Well today is Zoie’s dance recital.  I am so excited to see it as Jess said during the dress rehearsal she was a riot.  I am hoping she does just as well for the real thing.  They only had 3 little girls in the class.  One of the girls cried the whole time and would not get up on the stage.  Jess thinks it will end up to be a duo with just the 2 girls doing the routines.  Time will tell tomorrow.

Have you been following my coloring for the 30 Day Coloring Challenge?

Today I remembered a technique that I did not have on my list.  I have heard it referred to Watercolor Wash but I am not certain if that is the correct name.  Basically you emboss your image in white on a colored cardstock.  I had seen several cards with this done but I had not seen one done in black.  I decided to try it.  After you emboss your image you use a blender pen and paint the inside of the image with white craft ink.  Once the white is dry, you then come back and paint over the white with a color.  I tried several colors but the one that worked the best was Melon Mambo so went with it.

I had hoped the image would have been better on the black.  It almost seems to be neon even though it isn’t.  After my image was dry, I put my card together.  Here is what my final card looked like.

Thanks for visiting me today.  I hope the weather in your area is nice that you can enjoy a great Father’s Day Weekend.  Have a Super Saturday!

  1. I think it turned out lovely – NOT neon from my perspective! Definitely will give this one a try…thanks for the encouragement and inspiration! Hope you will post a pic or two of Zoie at the recital! Also hope that the new baby continues to do well.
